Course for Teachers of Spoon Carving
April 13-15, 2018 in Ashland, WI
This course is a good foundation for those who want to start teaching spoon carving as well as for people who have prior experience and want to develop their skills further. We will cover the basics of knife grips, safety and first aid, tool maintenance, and aesthetics. We will also go deeper into pedagogy; how to organize lessons, how to teach different personality types, how to communicate clearly, open mindedness techniques related to growth and fixed mindsets, and most importantly learning about your own strengths and limitations as a teacher and your skills as a carver and designer of spoons. Business administrative subjects like insurance, liability, and marketing will also be discussed.
This course draws upon Jarrod's 20+ years of experience as a professional woodworker and 15 years teaching thousands of students traditional handcraft, including spoon carving.
Dates: April 13-15, 2018.
Location: Ashland, WI.
Cost: $250 per person.
There is an option for up to 5 people to stay in shared accommodations overnight at the workshop location for $25 per night. BYO bedding/sleeping pad/towel. Please contact us to reserve a space.
