STYLES TO CHOOSE FROM:
For beginners, Jarrod suggests a START-UP SET of 3 hooks: LARGE, SMALL, and BENT SHAFT REVERSE GRIND.
The LARGE HOOK is great to rough out work and can also be used for finish cuts. $85
The SMALL HOOK is great for finish cuts and cutting on the core. $85
The BENT SHAFT REVERSE GRIND HOOK excels at a long slicing cut to shape a tapered core. The grind is on the opposite side of the hook in comparison to normal hooks. $85
The NESTING HOOK is designed for an 6-8 inch open form bowl. Nesting is the technique where you cut a groove on the inside of the bowl, leaving a large core to make another bowl/or bowls off the core. This technique saves on material in lieu of turning the core away. $85
The FINISHING/CORING HOOK is medium in size and untapered before scrolling into a conical shape. Primarily a finishing hook, it can also be used for core cutting. $85
6A & 6B The END GRAIN HOOK PAIR is designed for end grain turning. One is used for the diving/plunging cut and the other is used for finishing cuts from the bottom of the plunge back up to the rim. This set comes as a pair. $170/pair

WOOD TOOL HANDLE Handles are approximately 16 inches long, turned from Ash or Maple with a pre-drilled hole of 5/8 inch diameter. $20 ea. Be sure to specify quantity before adding to your cart.
PLEASE NOTE: These tools are not for electric lathes. They are for foot-powered pole lathe turning only. The hooks are forged from O1 tool steel. Because hooks have a tendency to break in misuse, Jarrod does not harden them. O1 has a tendency to “air harden” so the hooks do have edge holding qualities, yet are not overly brittle. We will not replace broken hooks.
